Prado Brothers Band

“Over 25 Years of Blues, Soul & Brazilian Groove!”
With more than 25 years of experience, Prado Brothers Band brings together international experience, a distinctive musical personality, and a deep connection to Blues and Soul music. Led by brothers Igor and Yuri Prado, the band has built its identity around the meeting point between the traditions of American music and the richness of Brazilian musical culture, creating a sound in which guitar, vocals, drums and percussion interact with freedom, expression and, above all, groove.
This connection lies at the heart of the Prado Brothers’ musical vision. Blues provides the roots; Soul, Funk and Rhythm & Blues expand the possibilities, while Brazilian music adds new dimensions of rhythm, accent and texture. Moving between original material and reinterpretations of classics, the band transforms its influences into a language of its own — one that has matured through decades of live performances, recordings and musical encounters with artists from different generations.
Their repertoire of classics ranges from B.B. King to Tim Maia, from The Meters to Jair Rodrigues, and from Aretha Franklin to Sandra de Sá. Within this musical crossroads, the strong influence of Trio Mocotó and Jorge Ben meets the deep Soul traditions of the American South, bringing Brazilian swing together with American groove. In the Prado Brothers’ arrangements, these influences are given new life as guitar, drums and percussion explore the natural connections between these traditions, shaping the band’s distinctive musical identity.
Guitarist, singer and producer Igor Prado has built a highly respected career on the international Blues circuit. His playing combines expressive phrasing, deep groove and a strong command of the language of the Blues, with an approach that values both the intensity of a guitar solo and the space a song needs to breathe. As the band’s frontman, his guitar and vocals lead a repertoire that moves naturally between the power of the Blues, the emotion of Soul music and the pulse of Funk.
Alongside him, Yuri Prado plays a fundamental role in shaping the band’s sound. A drummer, percussionist and producer, Yuri has developed an ongoing musical exploration connecting Brazilian percussion with the rhythms and traditions of American music, incorporating this dialogue into many of the brothers’ projects. His contribution goes far beyond providing the rhythmic foundation: he is deeply involved in the arrangements, the choice of sounds and textures, and the way each song moves and develops.
Within this approach, drums and percussion complement one another, opening new rhythmic possibilities within Blues, Soul and Funk. Brazilian influences emerge through the groove, subtle rhythmic details and interaction between the instruments, always integrated naturally into the language of each composition. This perspective expands the band’s musical possibilities and reinforces one of the essential characteristics of their work: interpreting the music that shaped them through their own experiences and identity.
A major milestone in their international career came with Way Down South, released in 2015 under the name Igor Prado Band, in collaboration with the Delta Groove All Stars. The album reached #1 on the Living Blues Radio Chart, one of the leading references for Blues radio airplay in the United States. In 2016, it received a Blues Music Awards nomination for Best New Artist Album, bringing the brothers’ work into the spotlight at one of the most important awards in the Blues world.
The experience accumulated both on stage and in the studio is also reflected in the musical relationships they have built over the years. Performances throughout Brazil and abroad, appearances at major festivals, and collaborations with artists from the Blues and Soul scenes have made the Prado Brothers’ journey one of constant musical exchange. Each encounter adds another layer of experience that the band brings back into its own recordings and live performances.
In 2024, the brothers released Destined Souls, an album celebrating their 25-year career while further exploring the meeting point between Blues, Soul, Funk and elements of Brazilian music. The record captures a band in full creative evolution, leaving room for new sonic combinations while strengthening the musical personality they have developed throughout their history.
On stage, Prado Brothers Band transforms this journey into a dynamic and engaging live experience built around musicianship, spontaneity and a strong connection with the audience. Classics and original compositions come together in performances that move between intensity, improvisation and more intimate moments of interpretation. The chemistry between Igor and Yuri is evident in their musical dialogue, shifts in dynamics and the deep rhythmic feel that holds the entire band together.
With strong roots and a constant desire to keep creating, Prado Brothers Band continues to keep the music moving forward. Their journey connects Blues with Soul, the stage with the studio, and American musical traditions with Brazilian sensibility — a meeting of cultures led by two brothers who have transformed a lifetime of shared musical experience into a sound unmistakably their own.
